But every October it is my special enjoyment to taste the different new oils. This year I started with the oils from Podere "il Sasso", "il Poggiolo" and "Tenuta Salviano".  You see the  4  oils in the picture. The price range was between  11 and 22 Euros /l. Unfortunately the predicate "extra virgin olive oil" is without any meaning of quality. What they sell you as EVO in the supermarket for 5 Euros/bottle is a totally different product from the oils tasted here. Knowing a bit about the production process in the field and after, I consider 11 Euros/l really a bottom line price.</p> <p>The most expressive oils with many taste nuances were the two from Pogliano, the Oil from the Sasso was excellent, but not as good as last year. But I have to admit: I preferred the oil from Salviano (the deep green one); I think I got the first oil directly from the tank. They had not filled it in bottles and canisters. I liked it, because it is sweeter and a bit less phenolic, I  know, a very personal judgement and for some foods I cannot do without the oils from the "Sasso" people.</p> </div> </div> Fri, 26 Oct 2018 06:41:49 +0000 Keizer 5641 at http://www.winesong.biz New Olive Oil http://www.winesong.biz/index.php/node/5585 <span>New Olive Oil</span> <span><span lang="" about="/index.php/users/keizer" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Keizer</span></span> <span>Sun, 10/08/2017 - 14:02</span> <div><p>Do you need wine for Olive oil tasting? I think if you are tasting seriously olive oils,       you should have some white wines with you,  and some bread. At the end, these are the 3 pillars of the mediterranean diet.  Wheat, Wine and Olive Oil.</p> </div> <div> <h4 >DishOld</h4> <div>At the beginning of October the first new olive oils come to market. The Olive from early harvested fruit is more elegant. I got a bottle from &quot;Poderei il Sasso&quot; on a event called &quot;Terre di Orvieto&quot;. &quot;Terre di Orvieto&quot; is a new initiative to collectively promote food and wine from the Orvieto area. I also got goat cheese from the &quot;2ndo Altopiano&quot; and pasta from &quot;Casa Vespina&quot;. Ab absolute highlight was the Goat Salami from Mafalda farm. They produce wonderful salamis from goat meet and pig belly,</div> </div> <div class="maco-entity-reference"> <h4 >Recommended wines</h4> <div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/wines/soana" hreflang="en">Soana</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/wines/nuricante-umbria-grechetto" hreflang="en">Nuricante Umbria Grechetto</a></div> </div> </div> <div> <h4 >Image</h4> <div> <div> <img src="/sites/default/files/food_pairing/images/olioNuovo_0.jpg" width="500" height="552" alt="new olive oil" typeof="foaf:Image" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="maco-entity-reference"> <h4 >Food Tag</h4> <div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1834" hreflang="en">Olive Oil</a></div> </div> </div> Sun, 08 Oct 2017 19:02:00 +0000 Keizer 5585 at http://www.winesong.biz A perfect match http://www.winesong.biz/index.php/node/5577 <span>A perfect match</span> <span><span lang="" about="/index.php/users/keizer" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="">Keizer</span></span> <span>Fri, 09/08/2017 - 09:09</span> <div><p>What to drink.  Red wine would not match the Mandarin peels, neither the Anchovies in the pasta and the rolls. White wine should be very aromatic to withstand this feast of mediterranean flavors,</p> <p>I choose 3 Rosè to try.   All the 3 of them matched well.  The "Salviano Pinot Nero", less than the others. It is too elegant and fine and it's Bouquet of Roses was waisted against this food. But on the other hand, it was a nice contrast.</p> <p>Perfect the Martavello, anyway my favourite Rosè, with its flavours of Tropical fruit, but also the fruitiness and crispiness of the Sangiovese SunRose from il Palagione was marvellous.</p> <p>Discover Italian Rosè wines</p> </div> <div> <h4 >DishOld</h4> <div> A pasta and meat rolls from chicken and turkey breast. The pasta had a Sicilian flair with a sauce made from dried tomatoes, Olive Oil, Capers, anchovies and a bit of hot peppers. A flat pasta, which could take the sauce on it&#039;s surface.<br /> <br /> The rolls were partly from organic meat, Organic chicken breast costs double as conventional one. It is much better, but not as better as the price is higher..but there are other reasons for organic meat :-). The chicken slices were simply treated with a green Olive paste with mandarine peels, delicious! The turkey slices were wrapped together with Norica ham or with an Anchovi filet, both give nice taste to the turkey, which was conventional and had not a much taste on its own.<br /> Served with a bit of fresh tomato sauce and rucola salad</div> </div> <div class="maco-entity-reference"> <h4 >Recommended wines</h4> <div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/wines/martavello" hreflang="en">Martavello</a></div> </div> </div> <div> <h4 >Image</h4> <div> <div> <img src="/sites/default/files/food_pairing/images/203401_TreRose.jpg" width="531" height="924" alt="Tre Rosè" typeof="foaf:Image" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="maco-entity-reference"> <h4 >Food Tag</h4> <div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1835" hreflang="en">Dried Tomatoes</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1834" hreflang="en">Olive Oil</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1836" hreflang="en">Capers</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1837" hreflang="en">Chicken Breast</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1838" hreflang="en">Turkey Breast</a></div> <div class="maco-entity-reference-item"><a href="/index.php/taxonomy/term/1839" hreflang="en">Anchovis</a></div> </div> </div> Fri, 08 Sep 2017 14:09:05 +0000 Keizer 5577 at http://www.winesong.biz
